Job description

We are seeking an Associate Scientist Pharmacology who will play a pivotal role in the pharmacology laboratory, leveraging extensive hands-on experience in a wide range of cell-based assays, including but not limited to confocal microscopy, flow cytometry (FC), and multi-electrode array (MEA).

 

Your role

As our Associate Scientist Pharmacology you will be responsible for setting up, executing, and analyzing plate-based cellular assays to evaluate target engagement and functional responses in disease-relevant models.

This role requires technical proficiency and a strong background in advanced cellular and imaging techniques. Ideally you will bring complementary expertise to enhance the lab's existing capabilities, helping to elevate Augustine Therapeutic's research efforts. By integrating their knowledge with our current focus areas, you will contribute to advancing innovative drug discovery programs and strengthening our translational research platforms.

  

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  

  • Assay Development and Execution:

    • Set up, execute, and analyze plate-based cellular assays to assess target engagement and functional responses in disease-relevant models.

    • Develop and optimize cell-based assays, ensuring high accuracy, reliability, and reproducibility of experimental data.

  • Advanced Cellular and Imaging Techniques:

    • Utilize advanced techniques such as confocal microscopy, FC, and MEA to conduct detailed cellular analyses.

    • Implement and maintain cutting-edge imaging and cellular technologies to enhance assay performance.

  • Data Analysis and Interpretation:

    • Analyze and interpret complex data sets, providing clear and concise reports to support drug discovery projects.

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate assay data into broader research initiatives.

  • Laboratory Management and Compliance:

    • Ensure the laboratory operates smoothly and complies with all relevant safety and regulatory standards.

    • Maintain high standards of quality control and assurance in all laboratory activities.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with scientists and lab technicians to support ongoing research projects.

    • Foster a collaborative and innovative environment within the laboratory team.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant life sciences field with 4 to 6 years of industry experience, or a Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, biomedical or a related discipline with 3 to 5 years of  industry experience;

  • Proven experience in setting up and executing cell-based assays;

  • Hands-on experience with confocal microscopy, FC and MEA;

  • Strong background in advanced cellular and imaging techniques;

  • Experience with automated data analysis using scripting tools is a plus;

  • Technical proficiency and problem-solving skills;

  • Motivated to work in a laboratory setting;

  • Excellent data analysis and interpretation abilities;

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills;

  • High level of integrity and dependability;

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively;

  • Enthusiastic, flexible, and proactive approach to work;

  • Fluent in English;
